Academic & Executive Function Coaching
College and graduate school can be overwhelming. You may be finding it a much different experience than what you know before (high school and/or your undergraduate program). You may be juggling many different obligations — relationships, work, family, community — in addition to school. You may be learning to live independently. You may feel like you are not smart enough to do this. But, you are. And, you can make it one of the best opportunities of your life!
Based on your needs and goals for your academic career, I will help you:
develop strategies to study more efficiently and effectively
prioritize and organize your tasks and obligations
manage your time more effectively
build a network of support, academically and socially
navigate the college or graduate school environment and culture
stay motivated, focused, and happy
My services include:
Regular meetings to help you develop effective strategies, routines, and habits. We can establish how often we meet based on your needs and goals..
A space and time to chat and check in about your experience and your wellbeing.
Dissertation Coaching
Writing a dissertation or a thesis can be a daunting process. It is a lonely process as you are the sole creator and engineer of this monumental project. You may feel like you are not competent enough to do this. You are. You have what it takes to get it done. If I could do it in 11 months, from proposal to defense, while working full-time, you can do it too!
Based on your needs and goals for your dissertation/thesis, I will help you:
leverage your strengths to get your dissertation completed successfully
develop strategies to stay motivated and overcome barriers (such as: procrastination, self-doubt, lack of confidence, writer’s block, and perfectionism)
create a road map with a realistic timeline and achievable goals
build a successful working relationship with your advisor
navigate the graduate school environment and culture
stay focused, healthy, and sane through this process
My services include:
Regular meetings to help you finish your dissertation. I recommend meeting once a week to keep you on task. We can establish how often we meet based on your needs and goals.
A review of your written work and general feedback. I do not provide editing or proofreading services but can refer you to people who do.
Feedback on your academic presentations.
A space and time to chat and check in about your experience and your wellbeing.
My Coaching Philosophy
I believe that everyone is uniquely smart and has what it takes to be successful. As a coach, I love working with my clients to discover the “what” that will help bring them closer to their academic goals and dreams.
I provide a collaborative, safe, and non-judgmental space for you to explore and talk through ideas, options, solutions, challenges, and anything that’s on your mind. I listen, ask questions, and challenge you to think differently to explore options that feel right to you and to be accountable for your own learning and development.
My goal is that, through our interactions, you will learn to manage your academic work on your own and will eventually no longer need to be dependent on me.
My Coaching Style
I am supportive, firm, and non-directive (unless you want me to be). In our sessions, you set the agenda. We will work on what’s urgent or important to you and I will make suggestions and recommend strategies and solutions as needed. You decide what is right for what you need.
Location and Time
We meet on Zoom at a time that is convenient for both of us. I have availability in the early morning, evening, and on the weekend.
